Coming soon events in the SRBC - preliminary schedule

To the members of Swedish-Russian Business Club,

The fall season of the Club has now begun, and I am happy to provide you with our general schedule of meetings to be held. At the same time I wish to thank the members of the Board, as well as our friends at the Swedish-Russian Chamber of Commerce, for their help in putting the following joint schedule together:

  • On September 16th, Stockholm, we did start the semester with a special feature on Travelling, with SAS as invited guests. SAS presented its services, and plans for future lines of interest to   business travellers flying to Russia and Ukraine.  We also got to hear some news of the new Sheremetyevo 3 terminal in Moscow, the cooperation with Aeroflot and more.
  • In Moscow, we are planning for a seminar on tourism to be held in late September-early October; where we will soon revert with a schedule.
  • October 13th (preliminary date) we will focus on Politics, with a joint arrangement with SITE at Handelshögskolan in Stockholm. The western media coverage of Russia does, as most of us would agree, seldom convey the full story as the Russians perceive it. We aim at having a meeting of Russian news correspondents as well as Swedish journalists, to discuss, among other issues, the events that unfolded in Georgia in August.
  • A special seminar on politics and news coverage is also being planned for Moscow.
  • In Ekaterinburg our first meeting for the season will be a venue at a press & advertising agency, a showing of its brand new printing machinery and a company presentation.
  • On November 17th (preliminary date) we aim at having a Member’s Fair, where all members are invited to get their own marketing spot, and where we will be able to inform each other of the companies we work for, and hopefully also find new business opportunities. At the same event, we hope to be able to present a couple of Swedish companies who either have entered the Russian market or who have taken the strategic decision to do so in the near future.
  • In Moscow we are preparing for a Member’s Fair, to be held at Hotel Katerina.
  • This year we will have a final event in Stockholm at a PubRus covering Culture, where the theme is Russian Art, and Treasures Found in Sweden. A preliminary date is December 8th, and we hope to be able to get one or several of the main Auction firms to tell us a bit about their business towards Russia - and examples of fascinating artefacts found and sold.
  • In Moscow we hope to get a positive reply from one of the auction houses now established on the Russian market, and a PubViking will be held at Hotel Katerina.
  • The Ekaterinburg section will have its traditional "julfest" Swedish style Christmas party in late December.
  • We have also planned for a meeting in Stockholm on January 19th 2009 on the theme of Belarus, considering that Sweden opens an embassy there in the fall of 2008; this meeting is still at an early stage of planning.

I hope that you share my interest in these upcoming events, and hope to see you at our Pub-evenings! Also, please feel free to contact me or any of the other Board Directors if you have suggestions for what other events we should do, or any other ideas! The Club appreciates all helping hands it can get!

Best regards
